About the Symposium

Artificial Intelligence Symposium on Theory, Application and Research is a two-day event featuring technical talks, networking opportunities and exciting project poster spaces in the fields of Research, Methods and Algorithms and AI Application.

The Symposium brings together AI experts and enthusiasts from industry and academia to explore, connect, network and exchange ideas.

After a successful first edition in 2021, with more than 1000 participants, AI STAR is happening again this September, in a hybrid mode, tackling new topics with always the same intention of bridging the AI community to bolster innovation.

The Symposium is designed to

Identify concrete technological solutions addressing current and future needs in our organizations.

Connect the communities and enable interactions to lay the foundations for further collaborations.

Inspire and enable the public to learn about AI research and applications from experts.

Themes

GENERAL AI

A catch-all theme exploring cutting-edge, cross-sector AI theory, research and applications. Presentations and posters shall cover diverse topics on different AI domains such as Machine / Deep / Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, cognitive architectures and development platforms (MLOps). This theme also aims to foster discussion on organisational strategies and roadmaps for AI adoption, including processes and return on experience of fostering community lead initiatives and consortia groups, as well as the potential wider societal impact and implications, ethical considerations and future regulatory directions for AI technologies.

AI for Cybersecurity and Cybersecurity for AI

This theme focuses on the critical intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. As AI systems become increasingly pervasive, ensuring their security and resilience is of paramount importance. Presentations and posters shall explore the challenges and solutions related to securing AI systems against attacks, vulnerabilities, and adversarial threats. Orthogonal concepts of Explainability and Reliability of AI solutions are also within scope.  In addition this theme delves into how AI techniques can be leveraged to enhance cybersecurity, such as anomaly detection, threat intelligence, and automated response systems.

Diagnostics and Preventative Maintenance and Assistants

Predictive maintenance and intelligent assistants are two valuable practical applications of AI in various industries. Machine learning and data analytics form the foundation of predictive maintenance, which helps, for example, forecast equipment failures, optimise maintenance strategies and reduce downtime. Intelligent Assistant applications utilise technologies such as generative AI, natural language processing and knowledge graphs to aggregate and sythesise large volumes of data to assist users in performing tasks and making efficient informed decisions. Presentations and posters shall explore the advances in predictive maintenance algorithms and the deployment of intelligent assistants in different sectors including real-world case studies.

AI STAR Code of Conduct:

The AI STAR Symposium is a community event intended for presentations, networking and collaboration as well as learning. We value a civil and respectful environment which encourages the free expression and exchange of scientific ideas. Should a lapse of professional decorum occur (such as discrimination or harassment), attendees are encouraged to bring issues, in a confidential setting, to the advisors appointed by the conference organisers. The advisors will suggest ways of redressing the matter and counsel the parties involved. The conference organisers may, after due consideration, take action as they deem appropriate, including, in severe cases, expulsion from the conference without refund. If you believe someone is violating the code of conduct, we ask that you report it by emailing
